“An umbrella is an object to shelter from the rain. It consists of a concave surface down plastic or similar material, attached to a rod structure arranged around a central axis ending in a handle suitable for carrying in one hand. The rods allow when it rains or in a sheltered spot close as possible to walk comfortably. A classic closed umbrella can serve as a cane, but not its short version sized “pocket” that has rods that fold for two (or more) sites. In some regions may be known as umbrella or parasol by the possibility of alternative use, although strictly this term refers to a similar tool, but use to “stop the sun” are built with their own peculiarities. The use of umbrellas in ancient China and India, was not introduced in Europe until the seventeenth century. At first they were allowed to carry only women.

In China tradition, the umbrellas were symbols of royalty (which derives from the deity).
